Today eMusic is announcing eMusic Scenes, a free iPad application that gives music fans a new way to experience the stories of music styles through time.

NEW YORK–Today eMusic is announcing eMusic Scenes, a free iPad application that gives music fans a new way to experience the stories of music styles through time. eMusic Scenes was created to showcase the indefinable chemistry when music, artists, places and time come together to define a movement.

“eMusic Scenes epitomizes the eMusic brand and is just one of many exciting music discovery experiences that we’re bringing to members.”

The app is a visual, audio and editorial experience that includes original in-depth articles, stunning artist imagery, videos, song samples and corresponding eMusic Radio programs. Upon downloading the app, users can completely immerse themselves in a music scene by reading about how it became a music hotbed for performers, listening to the talent that sprang up there and discovering why, in some cases, the scene faded away.

At launch, eMusic Scenes features the stories of 18 notable musical scenes, including Detroit Soul, Greenwich Village Folk and Berlin Techno. eMusic Scenes is curated by eMusic’s editors with contributions from leading music writers.

eMusic members can comment on scenes, suggest new additions and save featured albums to their member ‘Save for Later’ list, so that they can download and own the music they discover.

“This is a unique way to feel the energy and vibe of a music scene through listening, reading, watching and commenting. For more recent scenes, we encourage people to comment and share their experiences, essentially making this app a music time capsule,” said Richard Caccappolo, eMusic CTO. “eMusic Scenes epitomizes the eMusic brand and is just one of many exciting music discovery experiences that we’re bringing to members.”

eMusic Scenes was created through a partnership with discovery app experts, Hunted Media, who are the creators of the popular indie site We Are Hunted. Leveraging their technology and design expertise, eMusic was able to create a simple and beautiful user experience for this unique iPad app.

“We’re excited to help bring eMusic Scenes to life. By working with eMusic, we can take our app design capabilities to the next level – going beyond a music discovery experience to one that facilitates music collection,” said Richard Slatter, General Manger of Hunted Media.
