Online shopping carts with over 1,000 line items, new purchase-approval workflows and faster checkout are among dozens of ecommerce technology upgrades commercetools has released.

With the launch of Compilations, its new semi-annual technology showcase, commercetools has unveiled over 50 product and feature updates for B2B and B2C commerce.

The composable commerce platform provider says its new twice-yearly technology upgrade schedule is designed to help client companies immediately begin efforts to deploy new digital commerce technology to improve the online customer experience and grow sales across new and existing markets.

“Our customers don’t have to wait for a big upgrade to access new features — they can take advantage of them immediately, as soon as they’re released,” says co-founder chief innovation officer Dirk Hoerig.

B2B and B2C ccompanies deploying commercetools

Companies including B2B bakery industry supplier Dawn Foods, pet supplies retailer Pet Valu and mining equipment manufacturer Normet Oy use commercetools integrated with other commerce applications to connect with customers with a personalized customer experience across multiple sales channels. As a composable commerce platform, commercetools supports a modular approach to customizing ecommerce platforms from multiple vendors to address a company’s needs.

“Whether it’s a consumer exploring a website or an ecommerce manager tailoring product availability across commerce channels, providing a seamless experience is key to building loyalty and driving revenue,” Hoerig says.

The new products and features commercetools released include:

  • Shopping cart functionality that handles orders of 1,000 items or more for such online sellers as B2B manufacturers, food-service distributors and grocery chains  “without slowing performance,” and enhanced checkout functionality for unique checkout experiences.
  • Market localization tools — including product information tailoring, product data segmenting, and store-specific carts connected with the back-end business management software to help online sellers manage various brands, products, and locations at scale.
  • Improved customer search functionality for searching large data sets and providing more personalized support in customer service operations.
  • Approval flows that enable businesses to authorize purchases and other commerce operations while ensuring compliance with accounting and procurement workflows, helping to prevent unauthorized spending or inaccurate orders.

Commercetools accelerators for B2B and B2C

Commercetools also introduced:

  • commercetools Foundry for B2B Manufacturing and Foundry for B2C Retail to help businesses implement and scale more quickly a pre-composed commerce system.
  • commercetools for Healthcare, with enterprise-grade security capabilities, including HIPAA compliance and HDS certification, for protecting health information within commerce transactions.
  • Custom Views, which enable website developers to configure their online interface to display and monitor commerce data most relevant to their business.
  • AI-powered documentation, which is designed to help users save time searching for online tutorials and troubleshooting advice.

Commercetools adds that its technology now runs on Microsoft Corp.’s Azure cloud technology available through the Azure Marketplace.
