Ecommerce applications and services provider BigCommerce has appointed two new executives.
BigCommerce announced Rob Walter as its new chief revenue officer and Michelle Suzuki as its new chief marketing officer.
The leadership changes have come as BigCommerce aims to accelerate growth and enhance its position in the ecommerce technology sector.
BigCommerce CEO Travis Hess said Walter and Suzuki’s appointments strengthen the company’s executive leadership team as it focuses on accelerating growth.
“These additions strengthen BigCommerce’s senior leadership team and reflect our commitment to investing in top talent to help us achieve our goals across BigCommerce, Feedonomics and Makeswift,” Hess said. “Their experience and expertise will be huge contributors to the success of the company as we refocus on reigniting growth and improving shareholder value.”
BigCommerce provides open, composable ecommerce solutions for both B2C and B2B brands, offering flexibility for retailers looking to customize their online selling experiences.
In North America, 62 of the Top 2000 online retailers use BigCommerce as their ecommerce platform. The Top 2000 is Digital Commerce 360’s database of the largest online retailers in the region by their annual ecommerce sales. In 2024, those 62 online retailers combined for more than $3.81 billion in web sales.

Walter brings two decades of experience in ecommerce and technology sales, specializing in revenue growth and go-to-market strategies. He has held leadership roles at major companies including Salesforce, eBay, ChannelAdvisor, and Amplience. Most recently, he served as chief revenue officer at OroCommerce and Amplience. OroCommerce is a B2B ecommerce solutions provider. Amplience is a content management system company.
At OroCommerce and Amplience, Walter oversaw sales, marketing, customer success, and professional services operations. He contributed to significant revenue growth at both firms. His expertise includes scaling teams, optimizing sales processes, and implementing strategies that drive market expansion.
As CRO, Walter will be responsible for driving revenue growth across BigCommerce’s platform, including its subsidiaries Feedonomics and Makeswift.
Michelle Suzuki, chief marketing officer
Suzuki has more than 25 years of marketing leadership experience, having played key roles in scaling high-growth technology companies. She has held executive marketing positions at EMC, Ancestry, Ivanti, and Glassbox.

Before joining BigCommerce, Suzuki was chief marketing officer at Glassbox, where she led brand strategy, digital marketing, content development, demand generation, and global marketing initiatives. Prior to that, she was senior vice president of global marketing at Instructure. There, she helped drive the company’s international expansion and played a key role in its $3 billion initial public offering in 2021. She also has experience in mergers and acquisitions, having led due diligence, acquisition, and integration efforts for more than 10 transactions in her career.
At BigCommerce, Suzuki will oversee marketing strategy and operations. That includes demand generation, customer engagement, partner marketing, content strategy, communications, and social media.
