2017 Global 1000
The Consolidation of Global E-Retail
The Big Picture: The Ecommerce Impact on Global Retail Markets
Major ecommerce competitors, investors and analysts know one thing for sure about the market they compete in and study—it’s global in nature and becoming more so every day. Now, for the second year, Internet Retailer introduces the 2017 Global 1000, the only comprehensive report that ranks and analyzes the world’s 1,000 largest e-retailers, which together sold $731 billion online last year, accounting for 30% of the world’s ecommerce revenue. The Global 1000 also reports gross merchandise value and growth rates for each of the world’s 18 largest online marketplaces (including Amazon, Alibaba, Rakuten and JD.com) which generated $1.08 trillion in online revenue last year. Their sales combined with the annual revenue of the world’s top 1,000 e-retailers means that the rankings and data in Global 1000 covers nearly two-thirds of the world’s global ecommerce business.
