2022 Online Food Report
Convenience is now the primary driver of online food shopping, according to Digital Commerce 360’s research, with most consumers citing time savings (61%), convenience (57%) and avoiding long lines in stores (46%) as the top reasons. Avoiding trips to the store because of concerns about COVID-19 was the fourth-place motivation, cited by 38% of respondents.
In 2021, grocery-selling retail chains continued expanding the availability of curbside pickup and same-day delivery. At the same time, investors generously funded grocery retailers like Gopuff, which operates from small, store-sized distribution centers and delivers orders in as little as 30 minutes.
